Fast Forward

While I haven't lived in Boise my entire life, technically, I'm homegrown. When I returned to Boise to live rather than visit, one of my favorite haunts became the Flying M Coffeehouse. I religiously procured my daily coffee while enjoying the funky and inspiring art, people and atmosphere.

Fast forward ten years.

Now I'm humbled and proud to announce I will be showing my photography at the Flying M Coffeehouse for the month of September. There have been a lot of people helping me achieve this endeavor (and you know who you are!) but I would like to thank the curators of the Flying M gallery, John and Jerms, for allowing me this incredible experience and honor. Be sure not to miss the art every month at the Flying M (for all my local peeps) and definitely don't miss the spectacular art of John Padlo.

Afterglow

As expected, the Sunday Market was super fun! I had no expectations about selling prints or framed pieces (sold four!) but was just feeling fortunate to be a part of such a fun event. The other creators weren't too happy with the turnout but I managed to meet many interesting people not to mention the inspiring feedback on my pieces. I also may have uncovered a few gallery opportunities...what luck!

My first attempt at a booth.

Seriously, this building makes it so easy to showcase your stuff.

Unfortunately, the winery (that was supposed to be next to me) was a no-show.
Good for the extra space, bad for the lack of liquid lubricant.

All in all, it was a superb experience and I can't wait to be a part of it again. Stay tuned for more developments!

Hair

It's never difficult to find inspiration in the unending world of photography and Janella is no exception. I was fortunate enough to find this photo on RedBubble. Her photography borders on transcendental and moved me beyond words.

Exposure

Totally and completely without shame, I am proud to announce that my photography is being featured this week at the Metro Express Car Wash in downtown Boise.

If you are a fellow Boisean and happen to be downtown any time between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., please be sure to take a look. Otherwise, you can always check out my gallery or shop.

Many, many thanks to those of you that have supported me and continue to throughout this process. I truly could not have done any of this without your encouragement and can't wait to see where I go from here.

Beautiful Terrible

When attending the fabulous Modern Art event recently at the Modern Hotel, I was fortunate enough to meet this artist. Her work was mind-boggling and I could not stop looking at her film as well as the stills of her gorgeous and haunting film.

Amanda's total dedication to her art, in spite of whether it was logical or not, inspired me greatly. I was not only moved by her raw talent but motivated to follow my own need for my creative outlet.

Gravity

My current obsession: levitation shots.

A complete and total mystery. But I plan to figure it out.

Check out more of Darcyface's work here. You'll be so glad you did.

Bygones

Another shining example of inspiration. Proof that keeping it simple is the best code.

Aspire

I was newly inspired after receiving the Anthropologie catalog yesterday. Not only are their goods drool-worthy but their catalog constantly and consistently shines with examples of photography that I aspire to master some day. This catalog (May '09) is no different.

Absolutely mind-boggling to look at some of the photos and wrap your head around the fact that they are underwater.

Beautiful!

Zen du Jour

To say this inspired me, is a gross understatement.

Genius

I was lucky enough to stumble upon this photographer's incredible work. A lot of his work, and this photo in particular, stir something dark and murky inside of me.

That and this picture just rocks. Hard.
